LIAT places Cybersecurity at the heart of its research activities, with a large number of researchers specializing in this field, as well as development projects, training courses for students and an experimental platform. The main challenges of cybersecurity are addressed in a number of research areas, such as the analysis of security protocols, software security, cryptography, data protection, computer network security, defence strategies against computer attacks, cyberinvestigations and cyberfrauds, cyber-security awareness, intrusion detection and the security of distributed systems.
LIAT-CySec Lab has developed a broad expertise for operational purpose, essential for the proper functioning of the digital economy while preserving privacy. It favors both the theoretical approach, in order to maintain a high level of academic excellence, and the practical aspects through prototypes and proof-of-concepts, inspired by real needs from the industry and the public sectors.
The main objective is to understand current cyber-attack techniques and anticipate tomorrow’s threats in order to develop the most appropriate surveillance, protection and defence methods. It is this expertise, rooted in a proactive research approach, that LIAT-CySec team members train students through pragmatic teaching and mentoring approaches. In addition to developing technical skills and talents, LIAT-CySec’s mission is to promote a culture of cybersecurity to a wider public.
We take a holistic approach for solving common cybersecurity challenges such as privacy, cyber-threats, and lack of security awareness among Internet users. We do this by bringing in a wealth of expertise in other areas such as artificial intelligence, data science, software engineering, and applied mathematics.
Cybersecurity audit methodology, system and network mapping, vulnerability research, architecture analysis.
Computer network security, analysis of network equipment configurations, code analysis, reverse engineering of applications, vulnerability research, malware analysis, digital forensics.
