As a partner to companies since its creation, LIAT supports you on a daily basis and encourages you to make the most of our young talent, so that you can build teams today that are fit for the world of tomorrow, which will depend heavily on AI, data science and cybersecurity.

Propose an Internship

Education at LIAT is punctuated by 2 to 6 months of internship in companies for the Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. These internships allow students to put in practice the skills they have built and prepare them to gradually enter the professional life. All students sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) before starting the internship.

Why should I do an internship?

LIAT encourages students to gain as much as experience during their enrollment in our programs, by completing both short-term and long-term internships.

  • The goal of the short-term internship is to discover the business environment and jobs related to AI, data science, and cybersecurity. This allows students to identify their areas of interest and prepare for their final internship.
  • The goal of the long-term internship is to allow students to apply their knowledge in a professional context, their inter-personal skills, professional attitude, and work ethic and identify career opportunities. This internship completes their training by exploring the practical and operational aspects of their field and discovering interactions with related fields. For the company, it is an opportunity to identify and train a potential future employee.
How do I find an internship?

Internships can be carried out in companies or in research laboratories.

  • Internships in companies: LIAT’s numerous partnerships with companies allow it to offer students a variety of internship opportunities. Students can also apply for internships posted on specialized online platforms.
  • Internships in research labs: LIAT has two research labs, LIAT-AI and LIAT-CySec, where students, especially those in the Master’s programs, can complete their internships. Students can also apply to external research centers and Labs.

The different types of internships are

Freshman Internship

Lasting from 1 to 3 months, it takes place at the end of the 1st year of the Bachelor’s degree. Its main objective is to experience and learn about the constraints of working life, to understand the complexity of professional organizations and to fit harmoniously into the way they operate. Although it may not have a deep scientific or technical purpose, it can obviously give the student the opportunity to apply the techniques assimilated during the courses.

Sophomore/Junior Internship

Lasting from 2 to 3 months, it takes place at the end of the 2nd and 3rd year (Sophomore and Junior) of the Bachelor’s degree. It is designed to enable students to put into practice what they have learnt about data science, AI, cybersecurity and IT in the first two years. The scientific content of the placement report is central.

Junior/Senior Internship

Lasting from 4 to 6 months, it takes place at the end of the 3rd and 4th year of the Bachelor’s degree. Placed as a junior engineer or expert, the trainee must use the knowledge acquired during the enrolment in the bachelor’s degree program to ensure a successful transition to their first job. The subject of the internship must be related to the specialization chosen by the student. The student writes an internship report, which is part of the educational requirement to validate the bachelor’s degree at LIAT. An oral defense of the internship report in from a jury is also performed as part of the assessment of the bachelor’s degree.

Master Internship

A 4 to 6-months internship completes the Master’s degree. This can take place anywhere in the world, in companies or accredited universities or industrial research labs. This internship allows students to apply the knowledge acquired in data science, AI, cybersecurity, applied mathematics and computer science during the Master’s programs. The topic  of the internship must be related to the specialization chosen by the student. The student writes a master’s thesis or report which is evaluated by a jury. The thesis or report is subject to an oral defense in front of a jury that will give the student the opportunity to present the main aspects of their work. The report or thesis is part of the educational requirements to fulfill the Master’s degree at LIAT.

By combining the internships in the Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, students at LIAT benefit from nearly a year of varied professional experiences. This is a real advantage for their entry into the professional world.

Professional Meetings

LIAT organizes “Company-Student” meetings to introduce students to:

  • New areas of expertise in AI, data science, and cybersecurity
  • Careers in cybersecurity, AI, and digital technology
  • Internships, jobs, and researchers opportunities.

These events are also an opportunity for students to improve their knowledge of digital technologies, cybersecurity, and AI, to understand the challenges in the industry and to identify career opportunities after their education and graduation.

For companies, these evens help them to optimize their hiring process, allowing them to make faster and more accurate decisions compared to just reviewing resumés submitted on their website. These pre-hiring interviews allow students to bypass the resumé barrier and showcase their skills and expertise to their potential employers.
