Become an expert in cybersecurity, a rapidly expanding technology

The Master’s degree in Cybersecurity trains specialists and experts in the field of cybersecurity, capable of leading projects to secure information system infrastructures, designing secure applications, carrying out technical IT security audits, ensuring data protection, and more.

The program is designed to equip students with dual skills. It covers both the technical aspects of cybersecurity, enabling them to act effectively in the field, and the management skills needed to design and steer the security strategy within organisations to protect them from cyberthreats. Upon completion of the Master’s degree, graduates will have received strong training as computer engineers (in cybersecurity).

Presentation

The Master’s in Cybersecurity is aimed at students holding a Bachelor’s degree, engineers, and professionals wishing to specialize in cybersecurity. The program is designed to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue a career in cybersecurity and has been created to meet the recruitment needs of companies in this field.

Students have the opportunity to choose between two tracks. The research profile focuses on the development of the scientific component of the candidate’s education by deepening knowledge and introducing them to research. The professional profile focuses on the development of the professional component of the candidate’s education by deepening knowledge and acquiring a specialization.
The Master’s program is made up of three modules, each with specific objectives. The core module covers the field of cybersecurity focused on solutions for the protection and defense of systems against cyber threats.

The specialization module allows students to complete their education by following a track that aligns with their professional project. Students can choose between two specialization tracks: Strategist or Cyber Defense Specialist.

  • The Cyber Defense Specialist track focuses on issues related to intrusion detection and testing, threat analysis and management, and digital forensics. It is aimed at those interested in the “technical” professions of cybersecurity. They are technically skilled and able to identify vulnerabilities.
  • The Strategist track focuses on operational strategy issues related to the deployment of cybersecurity, audits, development of security software, cyber crisis management, and mastery of standards and regulations. It is aimed at those interested in the “operational management” professions of cybersecurity. They are familiar with the concepts of information security and understand how to link them to management.

The integration module aims to synthesize all the knowledge acquired through a project or internship. The student must have completed the core module before undertaking the integration module activity.

The first semester of the Master’s degree will be devoted to upgrading knowledge and the Intensive English Program (IEP) which are required for successful continuation of studies. The Master’s degree in Cybersecurity consists of 120 credits and it is required to earn at least 60 credits at each level.

The pedagogy is based on Learning by Doing, focusing on practical work: plenty of coding exercises and guided mini-projects to be completed on your computer during the courses. Students enrolled in the Master’s in Cybersecurity will build a strong foundation in security, privacy, threat intelligence, and cryptography. They acquire knowledge and skills to plan, manage, and maintain the security of organization’s infrastructures, services, and applications. Classes feature collaborative activities like online discussions and group projects. Through the Capstone project, you have the opportunity to work innovatively and creatively, applying the skills you have gained to real-world challenges.

Students have access to our world-class Labs (LIAT-AI and LIAT-CySec) and to the state-of-the art equipment, providing them with the optimal environment to develop their operational skills and projects.

Our Master’s degree in Cybersecurity continually integrates the latest technological advances and best practices in the industry. We regularly update the curriculum with the new trends and tools, in collaboration with the industry experts. Our students use cutting-edge technologies and participate in professional events organized by LIAT and our industry partners.

Skills

Upon completion of this program, students will have professional skills and know-how enabling them to:

  • Become autonomous across the entire cybersecurity spectrum
  • Master the conceptual and semantic issues raised by cybersecurity, data protection, and IT infrastructures
  • Acquire solid theoretical knowledge as well as good practical experience in cybersecurity and industry best practices
  • Be well-equipped to anticipate the evolution of threats and respond to operational challenges, in a context of rapid technological change
  • Design solutions based on modern cybersecurity techniques for complex problems
  • Analyze user needs and provide solutions to counter cyberattacks
  • Identify vulnerabilities in environments (cyber defense)
  • Conduct technical security audits
  • Write a project proposal and communicate results
  • Visualize data and illustrate results using programming tools
  • Gain a real understanding that cybersecurity touches several levels: hardware, network, operating system, applications
Careers Perspectives

With our Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, take your career to the next level with a valuable skillset. Several job opportunities will be open to you in the industry and the public sector. Graduates of the Master’s in Cybersecurity can work in companies developing innovative software, in start-ups or in the industry R&D departments. They can also join a research Lab or pursue into PhD degree.

An internship of four (4) to six (6) months completes the Master’s degree in Cybersecurity. As part of this internship, students must write a Master’s thesis and defend it in front of an evaluation committee (jury). An optional 2 to 3 months internship can be completed during the first year of the Master’s degree. These internships can be carried out in a company or in a research Lab.

Regular seminars are organized with local and world-class experts to give students a global view of the issues and challenges of data science, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.

Admission

Admission is only possible for Master 1 (M1). Learning cybersecurity at the Master’s level is an ambitious and demanding program. We believe it is best to complete it over two academic years (4 semesters).

Selection is made by reviewing the application package, and if necessary, an interview via video conference or in person. The complete admission procedure is as follows:

  • Submit the admission application
  • Interview with the admission committee
  • Payment of registration fees

Prerequisites

  • Holder of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in science and technology
  • Good skills in mathematics and computer science
  • Experience in at least one programming language
